Data received at KSAT supporting COP 15 in Copenhagen
Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) is collecting important information supporting the COP 15 in Copenhagen. KSAT has since the launch in January 2008 supported the Japanese satellite GOSAT several passes per day. The Greenhouse gases Observing SATellite is a JAXA flagship mission to monitor the global distribution of Green House Gases (GHG).
The mission is collecting 52.000 datapoints around the world and is producing the most accurate global, regularly updated CO2 grid. This measurement is very important in the understanding of the atmospheric CO2 distribution.
December 2nd , 2009, KSAT and JAXA GOSAT officials met to discuss the status of the program and the way forward.
