Pole to Pole
With KSAT’s unique network operations centre (TNOC) utilising the capabilities of remote controlling the ground station network, the infrastructure is soon ready for developing the planned Pole-to-pole concept. This concept enables satellite owners contacting their satellites through the KSAT network twice on every orbit. From Svalbard and Antarctica, satellites can be accessed in regular intervals of about 50 minutes. Commands can be uploaded and status parameters received. Most importantly, Svalbard and TrollSat can each provide what other service providers need two ground stations to provide –the ability to task and receive data from one station.
Therefore, imagery can be downloaded and sent to the end user faster than any other ground station network.
