KSAT Launches Hyper: Orbiting Ground Stations to Reduce Latency for Faster Access to Actionable Data

Operating in low Earth orbit, the satellites will deliver rapid connectivity, giving customers quicker access to critical space data and supporting timely, informed decision-making.

SMALLSAT 2025, SALT LAKE CITY — In an age where rapid decision-making relies heavily on timely satellite data, the demand for even lower latency continues to grow. Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) has for decades helped the satellite industry to achieve the lowest latency data delivery through the world's largest commercial ground station network with more than 300 antennas at 29 sites. Now, KSAT is taking new steps to help customers further enhance data delivery to make space data actionable faster.

The Hyper satellites will be launched to LEO, where they will enable low-latency connectivity for customers exactly when and where it’s needed. When a customer’s satellite passes over an area of interest far from the nearest ground station, it can achieve quick space-to-ground connection using Hyper with little impact on operations.

Hyper’s service is designed to be intuitive, providing the same user-friendly interface KSAT customers already know with KSATlite, the world-leading commercial Ground Station as a Service (GSaaS). Connecting to Hyper is therefore as plug-and-play as connecting to KSATlite.

Why is KSAT launching Hyper?
