Los Angeles, USA, Tromsø, Norway, Bengaluru, India:
Building on an agreement first signed in 2022 for ground station support, the collaboration has now broadened to include KSAT as both an early adopter of Pixxel’s hyperspectral data and a global reseller.
The partnership began with KSAT providing Pixxel access to its world-leading software-defined ground network, KSATlite, which enabled Pixxel to downlink data seamlessly from its growing constellation of Firefly satellites. Since then, KSAT has been enabling the validation and application of Pixxel’s hyperspectral data, supporting use cases across environmental monitoring and planetary-scale change detection.
With this announcement, KSAT becomes an official distributor of Pixxel’s hyperspectral imagery worldwide. Through its extensive customer network and trusted role in the Earth Observation community, KSAT will make Pixxel’s high-resolution hyperspectral data available to governments, researchers, and commercial users seeking deeper insights into agriculture, forestry, energy, and climate applications.
“This expanded partnership with KSAT represents the full spectrum of what collaboration in Earth Observation can look like,” said Awais Ahmed, Founder and CEO of Pixxel. “KSAT has been with us since the early days, and together we are ensuring that our hyperspectral imagery doesn’t just reach orbit but also reaches the organisations that need it most.”
"We are pleased to expand our partnership with Pixxel. Leveraging KSAT’s global network and experience in Earth Observation, we look forward to making hyperspectral data accessible to customers worldwide for applications in agriculture, climate, and environmental monitoring." Kristian Lindgård Knudtzon, EVP Earth Observation at KSAT, said.
Pixxel is building a constellation of hyperspectral imaging satellites capable of capturing 135+ bands at 5-meter resolution, offering a global view of the planet every 24 hours. KSAT operates the world’s largest ground network for satellite data downlink and distribution, with a proven track record of enabling mission scalability and global data delivery. Together, the two companies are working to ensure that hyperspectral data becomes an accessible and reliable tool for tackling global challenges.
